Creating a sound identity

Banque Populaire

Overview

With 9.5 million individual and business customers and nearly 12,000 advisors, Banque Populaire is France’s second-largest banking group. For almost 30 years, it has used Stevie Wonder’s song “I’m Free” in its TV and radio commercials.

In its desire to be perceived as “the bank for everyone,” it was imperative to evolve this sound identity. As a true brand anthem, it was necessary to capitalize on the original song. To redeploy this sound identity, Banque Populaire entrusted the Brandy Sound agency.

Creating a sound identity

Our Solution

Based on an in-depth analysis of the sonic codes specific to the banking sector, we set out to reimagine them through a fresh musical lens.
We developed a sonic territory built around four distinct orchestrations, designed to resonate with all Banque Populaire audiences — with a special focus on younger generations.

This complete sonic identity supports the brand’s communication across all touchpoints: digital platforms, telephony systems, TV broadcasts, and live events.
Brandy Sound enabled Banque Populaire to breathe new life into its musical identity while staying true to its original theme.
The result: a brand that communicates consistently, with greater impact and emotional resonance across its diverse audiences.
